Remixpoint has become the first publicly listed company in Japan to pay its CEO in Bitcoin. This move marks a significant event in the cryptocurrency world.
CEO's Historic Decision
In an official press release, CEO Yoshihiko Takahashi stated that his decision to receive his salary in Bitcoin was prompted by a desire to demonstrate his loyalty to the company's Bitcoin strategy and align himself with shareholders. "My decision to receive my entire compensation in Bitcoin is a clear signal that I am ‘in the same boat’ as our shareholders," noted Yoshihiko.
Shareholder Position and Regulatory Constraints
According to the company, shareholders urged Remixpoint's management to hold company stocks, but the company was unable to do so due to several regulatory constraints, including concerns regarding insider trading. As an alternative, the company offered to pay its President's salary fully in Bitcoin.
Current Market Situation of Bitcoin
At press time, Bitcoin has ventured slightly off-course from its week-long rally, having dipped slightly by 0.45% in the past 24 hours and currently trading at $108,461. Over the past week, Bitcoin has risen by 1.59%, and even more so in the past two weeks, climbing by 3.3%.
Thus, Remixpoint has taken a step that may influence future salary practices in other companies, demonstrating that cryptocurrency is gaining increasing recognition in traditional business.
