Recent statements from All Things XRP, asserting that Ripple and SWIFT are not partners, have become relevant amid speculation about a potential collaboration.
Resurfacing Partnership Rumors
All Things XRP, a well-known figure in the crypto space, has recently challenged the long-standing misconception that Ripple and SWIFT are collaborating. In 2018, SWIFT publicly denied any discussions with Ripple, and the Ripple CEO clarified that the two entities are competitors, not collaborators. Nevertheless, recent events, including Ripple's acquisition of Hidden Road for $1.25 billion and the launch of the RLUSD stablecoin, have reignited speculation about a potential partnership.
SWIFT's Blockchain Strategy
It is true that SWIFT is exploring blockchain solutions, but All Things XRP noted that the institution has chosen to collaborate with Chainlink for interoperability testing. While Ripple's clients, such as Santander, utilize its services, they do not operate through SWIFT’s infrastructure.
Misunderstood References and Misleading Assumptions
Much of the confusion arises from indirect associations. For instance, EastNets, a third party that licenses SWIFT software, mentioned using Ripple’s technology, which some interpret as a direct connection, despite there being none. Similarly, compliance with the ISO 20022 global messaging standard does not imply a partnership between Ripple and SWIFT.
Despite ongoing claims, no credible evidence supports the notion of a Ripple-SWIFT partnership. While such a relationship could benefit XRP in market adoption, it remains purely speculative.
