Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse stated that the Bitcoin community is not the enemy of XRP holders, emphasizing the need for unity among cryptocurrencies.
Garlinghouse's Comments on the Bitcoin Community
In a recent statement, Garlinghouse said, "The Bitcoin community is not our enemy. They really are not. If they do well, we gonna do well… We might do better. It's not a zero-sum game."
Attacks on Senator Lummis
Garlinghouse also criticized Wyoming Senator Cynthia Lummis for canceling a meeting with him. He urged her to take an active stance supporting the entire crypto community. Lummis, who chairs the newly established Digital Assets Subcommittee, is known for her support of Bitcoin, which has drawn ire from XRP supporters.
Criticism of Ripple and Incidents with Bitcoin
Ripple faced renewed criticism after gifting the infamous 'Skull of Satoshi' to a Nashville museum dedicated to Bitcoin. Many Bitcoin proponents recalled Ripple's aggressive stance against Bitcoin mining. Earlier this year, Bitcoiners also started attacking Ripple after news emerged of lobbying against a BTC-only reserve in the U.S.
Brad Garlinghouse's comments raise an important question about the need for unity among cryptocurrency communities. Despite the tension between them, he emphasizes that the success of one can positively impact the other.
