Regions Under Ban
As of January 1, 2025, cryptocurrency mining will be completely banned in 10 Russian regions for six years, until March 15, 2031. The regions under the ban include Dagestan, Ingushetia, Kabardino-Balkaria, Karachay-Cherkessia, North Ossetia, Chechnya, Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics, as well as Zaporizhia and Kherson regions.
Temporary Restrictions in Irkutsk and Buryatia
In regions such as Irkutsk, Buryatia, and some areas of the Trans-Baikal Territory, mining activities will be temporarily banned during peak energy consumption periods. These temporary restrictions will be in effect from January 1 to March 15 in 2025, and from November 15 to March 15 in subsequent years.
