A recent transfer of $20,000 in Bitcoin (BTC) to an address believed to belong to Satoshi Nakamoto has drawn attention from the cryptocurrency community.
Transfer Details
According to Arkham Intelligence, on June 30, an unknown address sent 0.185 BTC, worth approximately $20,000, to a wallet believed to belong to Bitcoin's founder, Satoshi Nakamoto. At present, the wallet linked to Satoshi holds $117 billion, all of which is stored in Bitcoin.
Discussion and Possible Reasons
Arkham suggested that the transfer could have been either accidental or a withdrawal from an exchange or other crypto-related service. It could also be a gesture of gratitude from 'an OG Bitcoiner.' Earlier in February 2025, a transfer of $200,000 was recorded from a Binance user.
General Trends in Transfers to Satoshi's Wallet
According to data from a CryptoQuant report, miners from the Satoshi era sold only 150 BTC in 2025, a significant decrease from the 10,000 BTC sold during the same period last year. With a decrease in the daily outflow of miners, it is possible that the transfer was made by a Bitcoin enthusiast to support Satoshi-era miners.
The recent transfer to Satoshi Nakamoto's wallet raises interest and questions about the motives of donors and the overall dynamics of fund movement in the cryptocurrency environment.
