Scaramucci Criticizes Recent Anti-Crypto Ruling

A recent post on social media by well-known investor Anthony Scaramucci highlighted his strong disagreement with a recent court ruling that he believed was unwarranted. Scaramucci described the decision as a "hostile attack" on the crypto industry.

Wyoming-based Custodia Bank faced a significant setback earlier this week when Judge Scott Skavdahl denied its motion for judgment. The ruling stated that the Federal Reserve was not obligated to provide the bank with access to its master accounts.

In response to the unfavorable outcome, Custodia Bank is contemplating filing an appeal. The bank had argued that the lack of access to the Fed's master accounts would give it a disadvantage compared to competitors, but the judge did not find this argument compelling.

Without access to the Fed's master accounts, entities are forced to depend on intermediaries. Custodia Bank initiated the lawsuit in 2022 after its request for master account access was turned down by the Fed.

Journalist Fox Business Eleanor Terrett observed that the two opinions in the case seemed contradictory. One opinion suggested limitations on the Fed's authority, while the other implied unrestricted power in decision-making. This discrepancy raises questions about the extent of the Fed's discretion regarding such matters.
