Scroll is set to launch the SCR token, which will be used for network governance and transaction acceleration.
What is the SCR Token?
The SCR will not only be used for network governance but also become a utility token. The total supply of SCR will be 1 billion tokens, divided as follows: 15% will be given away for free in an airdrop to existing Scroll users, 35% set aside for growing the Scroll ecosystem, 17% will go to investors supporting Scroll, and the rest will be split between the Scroll Foundation (10%) and contributing developers (23%).
Scroll's ZK-rollups Technology
Scroll leverages a technology known as zero-knowledge (ZK) rollups, which makes the network faster and more efficient. Competing solutions like ZKsync Era and Starknet are also expected to replace older systems like Optimistic rollups, including Arbitrum and Base.
Importance of ZK-rollups and Airdrop Event
Optimistic rollups can take over seven days to finalize transactions, whereas ZK-rollups can settle them in just a few minutes, making them much quicker and more user-friendly. On October 22nd, SCR will not only be listed on Binance but also distributed through an airdrop.
The launch of the SCR token and the use of ZK-rollups technology represent significant steps for Scroll and their users in striving for a more decentralized and efficient network.
