The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) continues its active engagement with cryptocurrency representatives as it explores regulatory changes.
Meeting with Ondo Finance
On April 24, the SEC's crypto task force held a meeting with Ondo Finance and law firm Davis Polk & Wardwell. They discussed registration requirements for tokenized securities and compliance with financial laws, as well as Ondo's plans for potentially launching a regulatory sandbox.
New SEC Chair and His Plans
Paul Atkins became the new chair of the SEC on April 21, taking over after the swearing-in ceremony. Under his leadership, the agency is exploring a cryptocurrency agenda, but has not yet taken significant action regarding the crypto industry.
Future of Digital Asset Custody
The SEC will host a roundtable on April 25 that includes representatives from Kraken and Anchorage Digital Bank to discuss custody of digital assets, which is becoming increasingly important after the approval of transaction funds in 2024.
