SEC Withdraws Case Against Coinbase Without Penalties

Coinbase's CEO announced that the SEC has dropped its case against the company. Ripple's CEO welcomed the decision, highlighting a move away from previous policies.

Case Against Coinbase Closed

In 2023, the SEC filed a lawsuit against Coinbase for offering investments without proper registration. Brian Armstrong stated that the SEC agreed to dismiss the case without imposing fines or requiring operational changes. The SEC has not yet officially commented.

Brad Garlinghouse's Reaction

Brad Garlinghouse, Ripple's CEO, expressed enthusiasm about the development. He sees it as a step away from the oppressive regulatory framework of the past.

Could Ripple Be Next?

Attorney Jeremy Hogan predicted that the SEC might make significant moves soon. Former SEC official John Reed Stark also forecasts the withdrawal of the SEC's lawsuit against Ripple. Hogan supports this prediction.
