On March 15, 2025, Kaito AI's X account was hacked, leading to false messages about wallet compromises and user panic.
Attack on Kaito AI
On the day of the attack, attackers took control of Kaito AI's X account, spreading false claims of wallet compromise and warning users about threats to their funds. According to blockchain investigator Defi Warhol, the attackers also opened a short position on Kaito tokens before posting the messages, intending to profit from the decline in token price.
Kaito AI Team's Response
The Kaito AI team quickly regained account control and assured users that their funds were secure, emphasizing that their wallets were never compromised. The company noted that they had strong security measures in place and found this attack similar to recent incidents. They stated, "This account and @Punk9277 were just compromised. The KAITO wallets were NOT and are NOT compromised..."
Increase in Cyberattacks in Crypto
The rise in such cyberattacks is a growing concern in the crypto ecosystem. A report by blockchain security platform Immunefi shows that losses in February 2025 were 20 times higher than in January 2025, with a spike in scams.
The recent events with Kaito AI emphasize the need for heightened security in the cryptocurrency industry. As cyberattacks increase, stronger protective measures are essential to safeguarding user assets.
