Options trading gives investors the right to buy or sell a stock before a given time at a specific price. To be eligible for options trading, a company's shares must be priced between $3 and $5, record a daily trading volume of 500,000 to 1 million shares, and have a market cap of $75 million and above. According to Nasdaq data, SMLR is trading at $74.41 with a market capitalization of $557 million.
Bitcoin Accumulation Strategy
Semler Scientific's shares have grown significantly this year after implementing a Bitcoin reserve strategy in May. According to Google Finance, SMLR stock spiked by over 30%, reaching $30.38. The company has accumulated 2084 BTC, with the latest purchase of 211 BTC worth approximately $21.5 million. Semler highlighted that Bitcoin acts as a hedge against inflation and a safe haven in times of global economic instability.
Second Prospectus Supplement
The company filed a second prospectus supplement with the SEC on December 16 to offer $50 million in shares to its ATM program with Cantor. This initiative will increase the funds allocated by Semler Scientific toward further BTC purchases.
