Semler Scientific, a healthcare technology company, has launched a new Bitcoin acquisition strategy aimed at accumulating 105,000 BTC by 2027.
Bitcoin Acquisition Plan
The company stated its intention to gather 105,000 Bitcoins by the end of 2027. The plan will involve a phased acquisition: 10,000 BTC by the end of 2025, 42,000 BTC by 2026, and 105,000 BTC by 2027. This initiative will be led by Joe Burnett, who was recently appointed as the Director of Bitcoin Strategy.
Semler’s Long-Term Strategy
Unlike other companies viewing Bitcoin as a speculative asset, Semler considers it a long-term store of value and a core treasury asset. Since its strategic pivot towards Bitcoin in May 2024, the company has actively pursued investments in this cryptocurrency.
Semler's Reputation in the Bitcoin Space
With 15,000 Bitcoins currently in its possession, Semler aims to follow the path set by companies like Strategy, which remains the largest corporate holder of Bitcoin worldwide. Semler is also the second public company in the US to adopt the Bitcoin standard, reflecting a growing institutional interest in Bitcoin.
Semler Scientific's Bitcoin strategy could significantly alter the landscape in the healthcare sector, blending innovation with active digital asset deployment. If the plan progresses as intended, the company may emerge as one of the largest corporate Bitcoin holders in the next two years.
