Shardeum, the autoscaling Layer 1 blockchain, has reached a record 171,000 validators on its testnet, setting a new standard for Layer 1 networks.
Record Validator Participation
Shardeum announced it has reached 171,000 validators on its network, setting a new record for a Layer 1 testnet. This achievement follows the completion of various testnet phases, including 'Liberty', 'Sphinx', and the four-stage Incentivized Testnet (ITN) 'Atomium'.
Success in Test Phases
During its test phase, the network processed over 81 million transactions and onboarded 1.2 million wallets, engaging validators who ran over 171,000 nodes. The ITN phase alone with over 52,000 validators contributed more than 60 million transactions.
Future Prospects and Development
The mainnet launch is expected in the coming weeks. Shardeum implements lightweight validator requirements, simplifying node setup to under a minute. This lowers participation barriers and reinforces network decentralization.
Shardeum continues to advance towards mainnet, providing the community with a scalable and accessible blockchain infrastructure. The project aims to support mass adoption of Web3 through its technological innovations.
