In 2025, the Sky platform, formerly known as Maker, plans to speed up the token migration from MKR to SKY following its August rebranding.
Sky's Plans for 2025
Rune Christensen, the co-founder of Sky, stated that more effort will be put into fully migrating MKR tokens to SKY in 2025. This change aims to remove confusion between the tokens and does not pose risks for MKR token holders, as new proposals will make migration necessary for token usability. More detailed updates will be revealed in 2025. The aim is to make SKY the primary token on CoinGecko and exchanges, with MKR becoming a legacy token representing 24,000 SKY per MKR.
New Star DAOs in the Sky Ecosystem
Sky also intends to launch more sub-organizations, known as Stars, starting in 2025. The changes in SKY's tokenomics, making it deflationary, allowed for the introduction of the Star strategy. The new subDAOs will launch with a foundation controlling the workforce bonus pool and making quick decisions. The first subDAO, Spark, is set to launch as the first Star in the Sky ecosystem.
Vote to Retain the Sky Brand
Sky considered reverting to its original Maker name in October after negative feedback on the rebranding. However, the November vote saw 79% of token holders favor keeping the Sky name as the protocol brand.
Sky is actively working on transitioning to a new name and ecosystem strategy, aiming for better understanding and usage of tokens among holders.
