Recently, a Bitcoin miner operating through CKpool found block 903883, an event with extremely low odds.
Achievement with Low Power
The miner, with only 2.3 petahashes per second, managed to mine block 903883, an event estimated to occur once every eight years for equipment of that size.
Comparison with Large Operations
Achieving a monthly block would require hashpower thousands of times greater, which is typical of multi-million dollar operations. Most hobbyist miners use terahash-level devices or even kilohash USB miners with virtually no chance of success.
Success Amidst Difficulties
Such solo victories are rare but not unheard of. There have been several similar wins this year, even as network difficulty reached historic highs. While large-scale mining firms cut back due to rising energy costs, individual miners with patience and a bit of luck are proving that even the underdog can win big.
This case illustrates that significant successes can be achieved even with limited resources and in uncertain and high-risk environments.
