Soneium has introduced its first music NFT collection in collaboration with Coop Records, aiming for fair profit distribution among creators.
Launch of the New Music NFT Collection
On January 14, 2025, Soneium launched its first collection of music NFTs. The collection includes unreleased tracks from Tokyo-based producer NUU$HI and is available on the Sonova NFT marketplace. At the time of writing, 644 pieces have been minted, with each NFT priced at 0.000777 ETH (approximately $2.11), as stated in the announcement.
Benefits of Fair Profit Distribution
Coop Records, a decentralized label that has already moved over 600 songs onchain, aims to solve the problem of unfair profit distribution among labels, streaming platforms, and artists using blockchain technology. Coop Records founder Cooper Turley noted that his idea of fair distribution aligns with Soneium's goals to create an ecosystem where creators receive the recognition and rewards they deserve.
Future of Soneium and Potential Directions
Soneium, a blockchain-based platform developed by Sony Block Solutions Labs, aims to create new mechanisms for protecting intellectual rights and fair profit-sharing between creators and fans. The Soneium startup has already attracted 248,000 accounts and supports 1.9 million addresses. Soneium Director and Startale CEO Sota Watanabe stated that the next focus of the platform will be further development in the music industry.
With the launch of the new music NFT collection, Soneium and Coop Records continue to advance technologies for fair income distribution among creators, opening up new prospects for the music and entertainment industry based on blockchain.
