Increase in number of investors
According to data from Democratic Party lawmaker Ahn Do-Jae, the number of crypto investors in the country increased by 52.6% over the year. The value of crypto assets owned by South Korean investors exceeded 105 trillion won.
Growth in older investors
Significant growth was seen in the age groups of 50-60 years. The number of investors over 60 years also grew sharply, indicating an increasing interest in cryptocurrencies among older generations.
Regulatory initiatives and Bank of Korea data
Rep. Ahn stressed the need for establishing a minimum regulatory framework for investor protection. According to the Bank of Korea, the number of crypto investors reached 15.59 million, which is about 30% of the country's population.
