SpaceX has successfully launched the first private mission to orbit, which will pass over Earth's poles. The mission is sponsored by crypto investor Chun Wang.
Launch of the Fram2 Mission
In the early morning, a rocket with four private astronauts on board launched from Cape Canaveral, Florida. The mission, named Fram2, will last from three to five days and is named after a 19th-century Norwegian Arctic exploration ship.
Crew and Mission Goals
The mission is led by Chinese-born Maltese entrepreneur Chun Wang, the founder of F2Pool. Accompanying him are German polar scientist Rabea Rogge, Norwegian cinematographer Jannicke Mikkelsen, and Australian Arctic explorer Eric Philips. The crew will conduct 22 experiments, including the first X-ray in space and mushroom cultivation.
Historic Achievements
This mission marks the first time in history that a crewed mission will circle Earth's poles. SpaceX also announced that the Dragon module will splash down off the coast of California at the end of the mission.
The Fram2 mission with its crew of astronauts is a significant event in private space exploration, opening new opportunities for future expeditions.
