Strategy's Bitcoin Purchase
On Sunday, June 15, 2025, Strategy, founded by Michael Saylor, announced it acquired 10,100 Bitcoin at an average price of $104,080 per coin. This comes as Bitcoin dropped from $110,000 to a low of $103,639 during the same week. The software company now holds approximately 592,100 BTC, worth over $64 billion at current rates.
Financial Details and Projections
This purchase marks Strategy's second in June, having spent around $41.8 billion to amass this holding at an average of $70,666 per coin. The latest buy was mainly funded using proceeds from the STRD stock offering launched on Nasdaq. This investment in Bitcoin has increased by 19.1% this year, and the company hopes to achieve a 25% gain by year-end.

On the same day, Japanese firm Metaplanet also announced adding $117.2 million worth of Bitcoin by acquiring 1,112 BTC, moving closer to their goal of 10,000 BTC for the year. Saylor took to X to congratulate the Metaplanet team on their achievement.
