On July 15, 2025, SuiHub Lagos was launched in Lagos, Nigeria, as a new space designed to foster blockchain innovations. This center marks the fourth physical hub in Sui’s global network.
Launch of SuiHub Lagos
SuiHub Lagos is aimed at empowering local developers to create blockchain solutions. This initiative comes amid growing interest in tech and startups in Nigeria. The new hub will provide resources for training and skill development for developers.
' Lagos is home to one of the most energetic tech communities in the world,' said Christian Thompson, Managing Director of the Sui Foundation. 'SuiHub Lagos gives developers the tools to create solutions with significant global impact.'
Developer Ecosystem in Nigeria
Nigeria is one of the fastest-growing markets for developers in Africa, although blockchain funding still lags behind other countries in the region. In 2024, funding in Nigeria reached $18.85 million. SuiHub aims to bridge this gap by providing the necessary resources to realize the potential of local developers.
Education and Support for Developers
SuiHub Lagos offers developer training using its tools, such as zkLogin for user authentication and Walrus, a decentralized storage platform. The center also plans to host events such as hackathons and workshops aimed at community development. This aligns with Nigeria's emphasis on blockchain education through the SEC's Crypto Smart initiative. Consequently, SuiHub could play a crucial role in educating a new generation of blockchain developers.
The launch of SuiHub Lagos is an important step for Nigeria’s tech ecosystem. By providing infrastructure, education, and global connections, the hub can help developers address both local and global challenges, fostering innovation in the region.
