SukuPay has launched its payment infrastructure in Banco Industrial's app, potentially changing the way Latin American banks adopt blockchain technologies.
Integration of SukuPay in Banco Industrial
For the first time in the region, SukuPay has launched its crypto-native payment infrastructure for cross-border remittances in Banco Industrial's mobile app, Zigi. Guatemalan users can now receive U.S.-based transfers in under 20 seconds for a flat fee of $0.99.
Benefits of the New Approach
Users can initiate transfers using a debit card, Apple Pay, or cash through retail partners like Walmart and CVS. The system operates by using just a phone number, eliminating the need for IBANs, crypto wallets, or conversions. This is a significant simplification for users.
SukuPay's Role in Banking Modernization
According to Yonathan Lapchik, CEO of SukuPay, the integration is not just a feature, but a financial infrastructure upgrade. He emphasized that their system creates real financial tools that work for everyone—both banked and unbanked customers.
The SukuPay initiative with Banco Industrial may serve as a model for other banks in the region looking to modernize their services without building new infrastructure or complicating interfaces for customers.
