Tangem and Visa Partner to Revolutionize Crypto Payments
Tangem, a renowned developer of personalized hardware wallets for cryptocurrencies such as Shiba Inu, has unveiled an exciting collaboration with Visa. This strategic partnership sets out to amalgamate conventional payment solutions with the self-custody capabilities offered by Tangem's innovative technology.
By merging Visa's robust payment infrastructure with Tangem's secure wallet technology, the primary goal of this alliance is to facilitate the seamless integration of digital assets into everyday transactions. This endeavor marks a notable advancement towards bridging the traditional financial realm with the rapidly expanding domain of cryptocurrency.
Tangem's Collaboration with Visa: Pioneering Crypto Payment Integration
Tangem, recognized for its creation of specialized hardware wallets for Shiba Inu and other cryptocurrencies, has announced its latest venture with Visa to enable direct integration of cryptocurrency payments with Visa payment cards. This partnership will introduce a groundbreaking product known as Tangem Pay, anticipated to be launched before the year's end. Andrey Lazutkin, Tangem's CTO, revealed in an interview with Cointelegraph that this initiative stemmed from a Visa certification and patent granted in February 2022.
The Tangem Pay solution is set to empower users to utilize various cryptocurrencies directly from their wallets at merchants supported by Visa. Initially, the service will endorse USDT on the Polygon network. Tangem currently boasts support for numerous digital assets across 59 blockchain networks, including Shiba Inu on Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, and Shibarium. Furthermore, it extends its support to other tokens within the Shiba Inu ecosystem like Doge Killer (LEASH) and Bone ShibaSwap (BONE).
While Tangem plans to broaden its support to include additional cryptocurrencies in the future, specific details regarding these expansions remain undisclosed.
Tangem's Innovation: Bridging Self-Custody with Visa's Payment Technology
Andrey Kurennykh, the co-founder and CEO of Tangem, expressed his insights on this groundbreaking collaboration, emphasizing the dual advantage it offers: the self-custodial attributes of Tangem wallets harmonized with the convenience of a traditional bank card. Kurennykh underlined that this joint effort aims to narrow the gap between traditional finance structures and digital assets, granting users the benefits of both worlds.
Tangem Pay is not restricted to Tangem wallets exclusively. The company intends to extend this feature to other prominent crypto wallets such as Metamask, Trust Wallet, and Ledger. Established in 2021, Tangem has solidified its position as a leading provider of crypto custody solutions, introducing card-shaped hardware wallets that can be activated with or without a seed.
A spokesperson from Tangem affirmed that each wallet purchase typically includes three cards. Since its inception, Tangem has distributed over one million cards, including customized versions catering to major cryptocurrencies like Shiba Inu. Notably, Tangem introduced wallets themed around Shiba Inu, receiving significant pre-orders from the community. The initial batch of these specialized wallets was shipped in July 2023. Furthermore, Tangem expanded its Shiba Inu support by accepting SHIB as a payment method for its wallets and producing tailored wallets for Shiba Inu's associate, Bad Idea AI.
