Tether is preparing to launch a non-custodial wallet template as part of its Wallet Development Kit. CEO Paolo Ardoino shared details about the forthcoming release.
Tether Wallet Template
Tether announced the creation of a non-custodial wallet as part of its Wallet Development Kit (WDK). In a statement released on May 9, 2025, CEO Paolo Ardoino highlighted the open nature of the developed tool, which will be available to all developers.
Features of the New Wallet
According to Ardoino, the new wallet will enable seamless cross-blockchain interactions and simplify the process for users to transfer value across various decentralized networks. Additionally, 'gasless transactions' will be available, meaning users won't have to pay fees due to account abstraction mechanisms. For enhanced security, the instrument will not support API keys, allowing users complete control over their funds.
Tether's Future Strategies
The CEO did not disclose exact release timelines but hinted at updates coming soon. He mentioned that the wallet will be compatible with almost any existing blockchain. Tether is actively pursuing ambitious strategies across various sectors, including investments in video platforms and Bitcoin.
Tether aims to accelerate the growth of decentralized finance with its new open-source tool, potentially leading to the creation of one trillion non-custodial wallets. This marks a step towards simplifying access to cryptocurrencies for a broader audience.
