Tether has stated that it will fully discontinue support for USDT on the Omni Layer, Bitcoin Cash SLP, Kusama, EOS (now known as Vaulta), and Algorand platforms starting September 1, 2025. After this date, users will no longer be able to redeem USDT on these blockchains, and any remaining tokens will be frozen.
Reasons for Strategy Changes
The company described the decision as part of an 'infrastructure optimization' strategy. The primary goal is to align with changing user behavior and focus on more active and scalable blockchains. Over the past two years, Tether has been gradually pulling away from these networks, ceasing the creation of new USDT tokens on Bitcoin Cash, Kusama, and Omni Layer in 2023, and on Algorand and EOS in June 2024.

Users can either redeem their tokens through the platform or transfer them to other blockchains that Tether still supports.
