Changpeng Zhao, former CEO and major shareholder of Binance, has revealed his dog's name—Broccoli. Alongside, he dispelled rumors about launching a memecoin.
The Story of Broccoli's Arrival
The dog, a Belgian Malinois, came to Zhao's door a year and a half ago after a conversation with a Dubai zoo owner. Zhao was curious about dog breeds suited for the region's heat but had no plans to adopt one. Later that evening, a young Malinois appeared at his door.
A Name Linked to Crypto
Zhao explained that he wanted the name to include something "green" and start with a "B." "Can't get away from crypto, haha," he joked, indicating the connection between the name, the green plant, and cryptocurrencies.
Memecoin Rumors Dispelled
Zhao also dispelled rumors about launching a dog-inspired memecoin. He stated that he will not be issuing a memecoin, despite requests from his followers. "I am just posting a photo of my dog and his name, as some of you requested," he said, emphasizing his wish for the best community memecoin to prevail.
Changpeng Zhao continues to engage with his followers, sharing interesting stories and clarifying their questions while maintaining a link to the crypto world, even through his pet's name.
