TikTok has announced the removal of over 2 million videos uploaded by users in Nigeria between July and September 2024 to ensure compliance with its community guidelines.

According to the Community Guidelines Enforcement Report for Q3 2024, 99.1% of the videos were removed within 24 hours of posting. Particularly, 92.1% of the removed videos were not flagged by users, showcasing the high efficiency of the platform's automated content moderation.

TikTok continues to invest in technologies aimed at enhancing content moderation and assessing potential risks. Globally, the platform removed over 147 million videos, with 118 million through automation. Additionally, a #SaferTogether campaign was launched in Nigeria to increase online safety awareness.
Comparison with Kenya
In Kenya, TikTok also actively removed content, with over 360,000 videos taken down in Q2 2024. Of all the removed videos, 99.1% were deleted before user complaints, demonstrating effective proactive content moderation.
