Tron platform has announced the implementation of the Gas Free feature, which will allow USDT transactions without fees.
Tron's Gas Free Feature
According to Tron founder Justin Sun, the Gas Free feature will launch within the next week, enabling users to send USDT without needing TRX for gas fees. This feature could once again make Tron a favored network for stablecoin transfers.
Current Fee Issues
Tron was previously the cheapest network for USDT transfers, but recently fees have increased significantly. Currently, TRC-20 USDT transfers cost between $3.20 and $6.50, whereas on ETH it's $0.40. Tether notes that USDT transfers require 'energy' and 'bandwidth'.
Efforts to Prevent Financial Crimes
Additionally, the T3 Financial Crime Unit, a collaboration between Tron, Tether, and TRM Labs, has frozen $100 million in USDT linked to illicit activities since September. This unit uses TRM Labs’ blockchain intelligence tools to monitor and analyze transactions.
The Gas Free feature on Tron could reduce user costs for USDT transfers and restore its status as a popular network for stablecoin transactions.
