The XRP Ledger protocol (XRPL) is continuing its development by approving two new amendments. Ripple is also actively working on its new stablecoin, RLUSD.
XRPL Amendments Approved
The XRP Ledger protocol recently introduced and successfully approved two major changes named “fixEmptyDID” and “fixPreviousTxnID.” These updates were supported by 31 validators, surpassing the required threshold for implementation.
Development and Testing of RLUSD
Ripple is actively developing a new stablecoin called Ripple USD (RLUSD). This stablecoin is planned to be used on two blockchain networks and is intended to complement existing XRP tokens. The first information about RLUSD appeared in early September.
Recent RLUSD Treasury Activity
Recently, Ripple's RLUSD Treasury minted 300,000 RLUSD, as shown by Ethereum blockchain explorer Etherscan on September 28 at 03:13:47 AM UTC. Another mint of 50,000 RLUSD took place on September 27, and a smaller mint of 5,515 RLUSD occurred on September 25. Although RLUSD has not yet received regulatory approval and cannot be bought or sold, preparations for the launch continue. The RLUSD logo was recently updated in Ledger Live, and every RLUSD will be automatically bridged with each XRP transaction.
The exact date of the official release of RLUSD is still unknown, but continuous testing and development on both networks indicate a successful launch soon.
