U.S.-based crypto startups captured nearly half of all venture capital funding in the fourth quarter of 2024.
U.S. Dominance in Venture Capital
According to Galaxy Digital's report, 46% of global venture capital investments in crypto were directed to American companies. Hong Kong ranked second with 16%, while Singapore and the UK captured 9% and 8%, respectively. Additionally, the U.S. led in deal count, accounting for 36% of all global transactions.
Galaxy Digital’s Report
Galaxy Digital's Head of Research, Alex Thorn, expects U.S. dominance to grow further. "A supportive administration could finalize stablecoin frameworks and market structures," he said. Regulatory uncertainty, however, remains a hurdle. The SEC has aggressively targeted crypto firms, but enforcement cases fell by 26% compared to the previous year.
Future of Crypto Industry in the U.S.
Donald Trump, set to take office on January 20, 2025, promises to make the U.S. a global crypto leader. His administration is expected to introduce initiatives supporting startups and blockchain adoption. Changes at the SEC, such as the appointment of Paul Atkins and David Sachs, may also impact the cryptocurrency industry.
A more crypto-friendly U.S. administration could transform the country into a global hub for innovation and investment.
