US-India Trade Negotiations

Trump's Concerns about Japan
In contrast to India, negotiations with Japan are causing Trump concern. He voiced doubts about reaching an agreement, noting that Japan does not accept US-grown rice, despite large volumes of cars being imported from Japan.
Prospects and Challenges of Negotiations
Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar stated that talks with the US are complex but he remains hopeful for a successful conclusion, although he emphasized the need for both sides to be willing to compromise.
A trade deal with India could represent a significant development for the US in South Asia, while uncertainty regarding Japan continues to pose serious challenges in international trade.
