Two US senators expressed concerns over NVIDIA CEO's upcoming trip to China, urging him to avoid meetings with companies that may assist Beijing in circumventing export restrictions.
Senators' Warning
On July 11, 2025, Senators Elizabeth Warren and Jim Banks sent a joint letter to NVIDIA's CEO, Jensen Huang. They urged him not to meet with companies suspected of circumventing US export controls or aiding China's military or intelligence agencies.
The senators stressed that this visit could legitimize companies cooperating closely with the Chinese military.
NVIDIA's Response to the Warning
In response to the letter, a spokesperson from NVIDIA noted that when US technology becomes the world standard, 'America wins.' It was also mentioned that China hosts the largest number of software engineers and that US technology should be utilized for optimizing AI applications globally.
Congress Expresses Concerns
Support from US lawmakers regarding chip export controls has increased. Legislators proposed requiring chipmakers to track and verify the final destination of their products. Earlier, it became known that the Chinese company DeepSeek worked with China's military and used third-party channels to circumvent US export restrictions. Senators expressed concerns that AI could accelerate China's efforts to modernize its military.
The concerns raised by the senators and Congress reflect increasing apprehensions regarding the impact of Chinese technology on US security and the need for regulation over advanced technologies.
