WalletConnect continues to expand its presence in the blockchain market by integrating its native token WCT on the Solana platform.
Transition to Solana and NTT System
The deployment on Solana leverages Wormhole’s Native Token Transfers (NTT) system, allowing WCT to move across Ethereum, Optimism, and Solana natively—not as wrapped tokens. This enhances composability and liquidity while preserving token integrity across chains.
WCT Token Airdrop
To support the Solana launch, the WalletConnect Foundation announced a targeted airdrop of 5 million WCT tokens to active Solana users. Distribution will occur through ecosystem partners including Phantom, Jupiter, Backpack, and Solflare. "The 5 million tokens are part of the 185 million WCT allocated for airdrops since September," said WalletConnect founder Pedro Gomes.
Future of WCT and Multichain Integration
The initiative underscores WalletConnect’s broader push toward multichain interoperability and rewards active community members. By extending to Solana—known for its high throughput and low-cost transactions—WalletConnect aims to deepen its reach into a vibrant user base of traders, NFT collectors, and DeFi users. WCT is expected to play a role in governance, staking, and protocol utility as the ecosystem evolves.
WalletConnect continues to develop its multichain infrastructure, aiming to position itself as a key player in the Web3 ecosystem through native bridging and user-focused incentives.
