World Network, formerly known as Worldcoin, is testing its World ID Passport Credential in Chile, Colombia, Malaysia, and South Korea.
World Network's Digital Identity Project
According to the official blog, the World Network project, supported by Sam Altman, announced the launch of pilot testing for the World ID Passport Credential in selected countries. This move aims to improve usability and increase accessibility to the World ID identity system.
Implementation and Use of World ID Passport Credential
The World ID Passport Credential allows users to link their valid identity documents, starting with NFC-enabled passports, to World ID without sharing data with third parties. All information is stored exclusively on the user's device, allowing them to anonymously verify their identity online. The World Foundation is providing WLD tokens to users with valid World ID Passport Credentials.
Future Plans and Expansion
The pilot project has been launched for iOS users from Chile, Colombia, Malaysia, and South Korea with NFC-enabled passports. Support for Android devices will follow, and access to credentials will expand to more countries. The project anticipates that the total amount of available WLD tokens for rewards will decrease over time.
World Network aims to globally expand its identity system, starting with tests in four countries. The company plans to implement support for more devices and expand the geographic availability of the World ID Passport Credential in the future.
