Worldcoin is an open-source system initiated by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, aiming to confirm identity and provide access to financial services for billions without legal or digital identities.

What Is Worldcoin?

Worldcoin addresses the issue of lacking legally or digitally verifiable identities for nearly 1 billion people globally, focusing on developing nations. It also tackles the lack of banking access for 1.7 billion adults, especially in rural areas. The key components of the system are World ID, World App, and the WLD coin.

How Does Worldcoin's ID System Work?

World ID is a decentralized and privacy-preserving solution that enables users to prove their uniqueness, preventing bot misuse. Data stored in World ID is protected with zero-knowledge technology. Identification uses a biometric device called Orb, which captures iris patterns to confirm the legitimacy of identities.

Where to Buy WLD Coin?

WLD coin is traded on various cryptocurrency exchanges, including Binance. It is used for governance and receiving Worldcoin grants. To purchase WLD, users need to register on the platform, fund their wallet with fiat currency or cryptocurrency, and proceed with the purchase through WLD/BTC or WLD/USDT pairs.

Despite the criticisms of its ID verification and economic model, Worldcoin continues to attract significant investment and expand its ecosystem.
