Worldcoin has undergone rebranding and is now known as World. As part of this, the World Chain, a new Layer 2 blockchain on the Ethereum network, has been launched.

At the San Francisco event, the company's co-founders, Sam Altman and Blania, introduced several new features, including a significant upgrade to the World’s Orb technology.

Updated Orb Technology and New Features

The new version of the device will utilize Nvidia’s latest Jetson chipset, offering nearly five times the AI processing power with fewer components, which will facilitate the Orb's use through self-service kiosks. Chief designer Henry Heley mentioned that users will be able to summon orbs to their homes through an app. The company is also introducing NFC passports as an alternative to iris scan participation in the project.

User Base Growth and Future Plans

Since its launch in July 2023, World has managed to attract over 10 million signups and 7 million verified users. The company aims to increase this to 700 million and beyond. After the presentation, the worldcoin token (WLD) dropped by about 5% and is currently trading at $2.14.

World, with its new name and enhanced technologies, aims to expand access to digital identity worldwide through innovative solutions and improvements to existing platforms.
