Worldcoin's Data Collection Suspension and Expansion Update

The announcement by the AEPD on June 4th revealed that Tools for Humanity Corporation, operating Worldcoin, will temporally halt data collection in Spain until 2024 pending further investigation. This decision stems from concerns surrounding Worldcoin's treatment of personal user data. The AEPD had previously directed Worldcoin to cease gathering and processing personal data in Spain by March 2024 to ensure adherence to privacy regulations.

Worldcoin's initiative to construct a human identity and financial network has come under scrutiny by data protection authorities due to the sensitive nature of the data involved. The ongoing inquiry led by the BayLDA is focused on assessing whether Worldcoin's data practices align with European data protection statutes.

According to the AEPD's disclosure, the BayLDA is actively pursuing its investigations and is anticipated to reach a conclusion soon. The ultimate decision will reflect the viewpoints of all relevant European supervisory bodies, ensuring a cohesive approach.

Worldcoin's Expansion to Colombia

Worldcoin has achieved a significant milestone by extending its operations to Colombia. Individuals in Bogotá and Medellín now have access to World ID orb verifications, offering a convenient and secure method of authenticating their identities within the Worldcoin ecosystem.

This expansion signifies Worldcoin's dedication to global inclusivity and its commitment to revolutionize identity verification and financial inclusivity on a global scale.
