XRP Ledger (XRPL) has announced an important upgrade that allows the use of various tokens in escrow. The update, named XLS-85d, will be available with the release of rippled version 2.5.0.
New Escrow Opportunities on XRPL
The XLS-85d update will enable users to utilize stablecoins, such as RLUSD, real-world asset tokens, and even memecoins in escrow. Previously, XRPL only supported XRP for this feature, limiting users' asset management options.
Support for Multi-Purpose Tokens
The update also includes support for Multi-Purpose Tokens (MPTs). According to RippleX engineer Mayukha Vadari and XRPL validator Vet, these tokens are lighter, more flexible, and easier to use.
Advantages of XRPL Updates
Another key feature will be the support for XLS-56d batch transactions, allowing the combination of up to eight transactions into one. It will also support atomic swaps, where two parties can exchange assets without needing trust. With these updates, XRPL is becoming a more powerful platform for digital assets.
With new updates like XLS-85d and XLS-56d, XRPL strengthens its position in asset tokenization and digital finance.
