YouTube is teaming up with Creative Artists Agency (CAA) to launch tools allowing creators and celebrities to detect AI-generated content that uses their image, face, or voice.
The Issue of Celebrity Image Usage
The idea is to find AI-generated videos of celebrities and sports personalities on the platform that mimic their face, voice, and other aspects of their identity. This move aims to make it easier for them to request the removal of such fake content from the platform.
Technology for Identifying Synthetic Singing
YouTube is also addressing another growing issue which is the misuse of AI to replicate singers’ voices. The company is working on a new 'synthetic-singing identification technology' designed to detect AI-generated content that mimics someone’s singing on other videos.
YouTube's Content Labeling Policy
Earlier this year, YouTube introduced a policy requiring creators to clearly label AI-generated content to ensure transparency. This means if anyone uploads AI-created work, it must be disclosed in the video description or metadata.
These tools are set to begin testing early next year with a select group of celebrities, including award-winning actors and top NBA and NFL players.
