In October, hackers stole about $3 billion from various protocols

PeckShield released data on Halloween eve that shows the number of assets, stolen by hackers.

According to the report, October was the month with the highest number of crypto exploits over the past year. For this, the experts gave the month the name "Haktober". In total, assets worth $2.98 billion were stolen. This is 2 times less than in the whole of 2021.

In terms of the number of attacks, there are 44 exploits per month that affected 53 protocols. The hackers managed to steal $760 million in a month. $100 million was recovered. Judging PeckShield, the main exploit in October was the BNB network, which lost more than $550 million.

Also, there are 4 more significant attacks on the following DeFi exchanges:

  • Freeway;
  • Transit Swap;
  • Team Finance;
  • Moola Market.

As a result, from $9 million to $60 million were stolen.

In second place, in terms of the number of attacks, was the month of March. $710 million was stolen. The most high-profile hack in March was the attack on the Ronin bridge and the transfer of $ 600 million to the wallets of scammers.
