Richard Teng is a seasoned executive boasting more than 30 years of expertise in financial services and regulatory affairs. He became part of Binance in August 2021, assuming the position of CEO for Binance Singapore.
Subsequently, he took on responsibilities for overseeing the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region, the European region, and eventually all global regions except for the United States in his role as the Head of Regional Markets at Binance. In this capacity, he led regional teams in forging strategic alliances, nurturing an environment of innovation, and expanding the cryptocurrency landscape within their respective geographical areas.
In November 2023, Richard assumed the position of Binance CEO, succeeding Changpeng Zhao.
Before joining Binance, Richard served as the CEO of the Financial Services Regulatory Authority at Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM), where he established himself as one of the world's leading innovative regulators.
Richard's extensive background also encompasses previous roles as the Chief Regulatory Officer of the Singapore Exchange (SGX) and as the Director of Corporate Finance at the Monetary Authority of Singapore. He holds a Master's in Applied Finance (with Distinction) from the University of Western Australia and a Bachelor of Accountancy (First Class) from Nanyang Technological University.
