PeckShield experts claim that Tether has frozen four Ethereum addresses containing approximately $40.05 million in USDT.
Here are these addresses:
- 0xa6bccfd21c5b23965c5f31d70fcef17b83b9c04a — $7.63 million (over $9 million at the time of writing);
- 0xe2102860361ced07ab9d75dbe815962b72165e82 — $10.17 million;
- 0x186e6139cd55902faa3d70b4cd866e7237d2f6ed — $17.48 million ($18.18 million at the time of writing)
- 0x5ced8dc729662eab1f923b3c43bfe6bb2dcd2ae6 — $3.4 million.
Most of these addresses have been actively used recently and have a limited transaction history, with some funds transferred in a single payment.
The reason for blocking the addresses is not specified. It is important to note that Tether regularly updates the "blacklist" of addresses suspected of involvement in illegal activities, including money laundering.
Earlier, on December 11, the company also froze 161 addresses in accordance with new security rules. These accounts are linked to individuals subject to sanctions by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).
