Zenlink - Bridge to Pooled Liquidity in Polkadot

Zenlink — is your one-stop-shop for trading Polkadot assets, acting as the DEX Composable Hub among all parachains. The Zenlink DEX Protocol serves as the foundational, unified, and universal cross-chain protocol enabling parachains to quickly gain DEX functionality and share liquidity with other parachains. Furthermore, the Zenlink DEX Aggregator connects all DEX DApps on Polkadot, creating a fully liquid Zenlink DEX Network.

How Zenlink Works

Zenlink — is a foundational cross-chain DEX protocol based on Polkadot, aiming to become the compositional DEX hub within the Polkadot ecosystem. By accessing the universal, open, and comprehensive cross-chain DEX protocol based on Substrate, Zenlink enables all parachains to create DEXes and achieve liquidity sharing with a single click. The Zenlink DEX Protocol includes various implementations that are flexible and adaptable, allowing for customizable compositions and interaction with different DeFi modules.

In addition, the Zenlink DEX Aggregator connects all DEX DApps on Polkadot and aggregates liquidity, providing users with a low-slippage trading experience. The Zenlink DEX Composable Hub allows developers to access the Zenlink DEX Module to create their unique DEXes, forming a DEX composable hub for the Polkadot ecosystem. Currently, Zenlink has received two rounds of funding and investments from several renowned institutions.

In general, the Zenlink DEX Network consists of the following parts:

  • Zenlink DEX Protocol

The top-level unified general DEX protocol that includes the following three implementations:

  • Module

A Module at the Substrate Runtime Module Library (SRML) layer according to the Zenlink Protocol standard. Parachains can quickly integrate with it to gain DEX functionality and even share liquidity with other DEXes on different parachains.

  • EVM Contract

This is a contract deployment mode adopted for compatibility with the operation of Ethereum EVM, and it is also a transitional scheme adopted at the initial stage of the Polkadot network. The Zenlink DEX EVM version implements all the functions of the protocol layer, complements the perfect testing process, and can also be deployed to the parachain of EVM contracts at the first time, greatly expanding the applicability of the platform.

  • WASM Contract

This is the original contract implementation of Polkadot, and it will also be the main contract deployment mode of the Polkadot network in the future. The Zenlink DEX WASM version has the ability to deploy to the WASM contract platform in the first place, and the applicability of the platform has been greatly improved.

  • Zenlink DEX DApp

A simple and user-friendly aggregator entrance to the world of DEX which can connect with most DEX on Polkadot, so that users can perform one-click trades with multiple DEX instances on low slippage.

  • Zenlink Token

The native token of the Zenlink DEX Protocol which can be used for distributing liquidity benefits, governance, etc.

  • Zenlink SlotVault

Zenlink SlotVault — is a smart pool product created by Zenlink to support more parachain projects in slot bidding and to satisfy the demand for more non-parachain projects to participate in PLO.

Architecture of the Zenlink DEX Protocol

Parachains in Polkadot — are independent and freely programmable Runtime modules that provide greater isolation and the ability for parallel processing of operations compared to Ethereum. This significantly enhances the performance of the Polkadot network but complicates the interaction between parachains.

To facilitate this interaction and liquidity exchange between parachains, the communication protocol XCMP is being developed, led by Gavin's team.

The Zenlink DEX Protocol serves as a means of interaction between parachains, similar to how application protocols work on top of XCMP, analogous to levels in the TCP/IP model, where XCMP is comparable to the data transmission layer.

The Zenlink DEX, as an application layer, allows each parachain that integrates this protocol to share liquidity with the rest of the parachains on Polkadot. There are three ways to integrate Zenlink DEX functionalities into parachains:

  • Integration as a Substrate module.
  • Deployment to the Wasm Contract module on parachains.
  • Deployment to the EVM Contract module on parachains.

Zenlink has specifically developed these three methods to simplify the integration of the Zenlink DEX Protocol into parachains with just one click.

Zenlink Development Kit (ZDK)

The Zenlink Development Kit (ZDK) — is a set of tools for developing based on the Zenlink DEX Protocol, designed to provide developers with components and APIs for quick creation of applications based on the Zenlink DEX Protocol. To enhance decentralization, all code related to fetching chain data, calculations, APIs, timing services, and interaction contracts (modules) is open-source and deployed through the Vercel platform. Developers can submit PRs (pull requests) or discuss functions, fix bugs, and address potential risks.

Benefits of using ZDK:

Benefit Description
Simplification of Integration Simplify the implementation process of the Zenlink protocol by offering turnkey solutions, eliminating the need for additional development and thereby reducing development costs.
Access to API for Swap Data Enables developers to use APIs to obtain swap data, without requiring an understanding of the underlying protocol data and path calculations.
Creation of Custom Applications Facilitates developers in creating custom applications or modules based on the Zenlink DEX Protocol.

Branding Terms:

The Zenlink Development Kit is fully open source and available for any individual or collective to build a DEX integrated into the Zenlink DEX Protocol or fork a DEX. It is licensed under the LGPL, and you need to keep the footnote "Powered by Zenlink" when building with it.
