December 4 marked a significant moment for The Sandbox, as the game client received a major update taking it to the next level. Named as one of the most important updates, version 0.9.7 introduced a revamped interface as well as new gameplay elements including oxygen consumption, fall damage, and a variety of positive and negative effects.

This update also brought new multiplayer features to the game, including rankings, and introduced a new meta universe map available on the dashboard. For smoother gameplay, The Sandbox has improved the Game Client 0.9 engine, resulting in faster loading times and improved camera and navigation features.

An important step is the mention of "implemented segmentation of graphics quality settings to support lower level mobile devices" in the changelog. This hints at The Sandbox's readiness for a mobile version in 2024, though it's unclear how this will be implemented through the app stores. Overall, the update reaffirms The Sandbox's commitment to continually improving and enriching the gaming experience of its users.
