Global payment giant Visa has announced the appointment of Aminata Kane as Senior Vice President and Head of Western and Central Africa, effective September 4, 2025. This appointment is part of a restructuring effort at Visa.

Aminata Kane has been appointed as Senior Vice President and Head of the Western and Central Africa region for Visa, effective September 4, 2025. This appointment is discussed in light of Visa’s reorganization into a new operational structure with four key hubs in Abidjan, Accra, Kinshasa, and Lagos.

Visa's Goals and Initiatives

Visa has emphasized that Kane's appointment aims to strengthen financial accessibility in the region. Aminata will lead a newly established sub-regional team covering 23 countries, including key markets like Nigeria and Côte d'Ivoire. She will address challenges related to structural issues by enhancing local partnerships and developing programs such as the Fintech Accelerator to support early-stage digital payment ventures.

Aminata Kane's Experience

Aminata Kane has over a decade of experience in digital financial services and telecommunications. Before her appointment at Visa, she served as CEO of Orange Money Group and founded the Orange Digital Centre in Sierra Leone. She is a graduate of HEC Paris and MIT Sloan School of Management and has been recognized as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum.

Aminata Kane's appointment as Head of Western and Central Africa at Visa highlights the importance of the region for the company, and her experience and passion for digital inclusion will play a key role in developing and implementing new initiatives.
