Popular streamer Amouranth was the victim of a home invasion by criminals who claimed to be after cryptocurrencies.
Attack on Amouranth
Late at night on March 2, popular streamer Amouranth, whose real name is Kaitlyn Siragusa, made a series of posts on X about a home invasion. The intruders allegedly shouted that they were interested in obtaining cryptocurrency. Amouranth updated her followers on March 3 with further details, including a video from a security camera that showed the three men fleeing after loud noises were heard.
History of Crypto Attacks
Crypto wrench attacks have increasingly become common. In January, a Canadian cryptocurrency forum moderator went into hiding after a kidnapping attempt to secure his Bitcoin. Another incident involved Ledger co-founder David Balland, who was kidnapped for crypto ransom in January 2025.
Protection Against Crypto Attacks
Security experts recommend maintaining a 'decoy' crypto wallet with a small fraction of funds to mitigate losses during such attacks. 'Dr. Anon' advised treating these attacks like 'your money or your life' situations, carried out by sophisticated criminals.
The growing popularity of cryptocurrency investments has attracted not only legal market participants but also criminals. In this environment, crypto owners must be especially vigilant about their security.
