The government of Buenos Aires announced the implementation of blockchain and cryptography for digital IDs.
Blockchain-Based Digital IDs
Since October 1, more than 3.6 million users of the miBA platform have received decentralized digital identities (DIDs) secured by QuarkID. This system uses Web3 technologies by Extrimian and is powered by the ZKsync Era protocol on Ethereum.
A New Standard in Privacy
According to the Buenos Aires government, the initiative provides enhanced data protection. The city sets a new standard in privacy and security for digital ID management. Data in the QuarkID wallets is self-sovereign, enabling citizens to manage their data when interacting with government, businesses, and others.
Blockchain Education Initiatives
In August, Buenos Aires integrated Ethereum basics training into the high school curriculum, offering students classes in Solidity, a programming language for building decentralized applications on Ethereum.
Buenos Aires is actively implementing blockchain in various initiatives, including education, showcasing the potential of these technologies to enhance urban infrastructure.
