Chainlink has officially launched the anticipated CCIP v1.5 upgrade on the mainnet, aiming to change how developers interact with cross-chain tokens.
Key Features of CCIP v1.5
The highlight of the upgrade is the introduction of the Cross-Chain Token (CCT) standard, which allows developers to integrate both new and existing tokens into CCIP without inheriting specific code. CCTs offer programmability, zero-slippage transfers, and rapid deployment across multiple blockchains.
Self-Serve Deployment and Customization
Developers can now deploy pre-audited token pool contracts to convert any ERC20-compatible token into a CCT. The CCIP Token Manager offers a user-friendly interface for simplifying the launch and management of CCTs without extensive technical knowledge.
Expanding USDC Access
With the v1.5 upgrade, CCIP expands support for Circle's Bridged USDC Standard. This is crucial for overcoming liquidity fragmentation in a multi-chain ecosystem and ensures stable liquidity across different blockchains.
The release of CCIP v1.5 underscores Chainlink's growing impact in the crypto ecosystem, as evidenced by new partnerships like the one with Turkish virtual asset provider BTguru.
