Hamster Kombat, once one of the largest mini-games on Telegram, has sharply declined in popularity, despite reaching 300 million registered accounts in August. The number of active users dropped to 41 million by September.

Early Hype and Growth

Hamster Kombat launched with significant fanfare earlier this year, receiving endorsements from Telegram's CEO as the fastest-growing digital service. Incorporating blockchain technology and crypto incentives made the game appealing to a wide audience.

The HMSTR token airdrop promised to players turned into a major frustration: delays in distribution and anti-cheat measures led to mass disqualifications and confiscations. Delays and issues with the airdrop severely undermined user trust.
