HashKey Group, a subsidiary of Hong Kong-based cryptocurrency exchange HashKey, has received approval for a VASP license from the Central Bank of Ireland. This move expands the company's presence in Europe.
Obtaining VASP License
On January 7, HashKey Group announced its expansion into the Irish market through VASP registration approval from the Central Bank of Ireland.
Crypto Services Permitted in Ireland
The VASP license allows HashKey to offer numerous crypto services, including fiat-crypto exchange, crypto-crypto exchange, custodial wallet services, and transfer of virtual assets on behalf of other people.
Regulation and Innovation Under MiCA
According to MiCA regulations, all crypto services must apply for VASP registration by March 30, 2025. Derville Rowland, Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Ireland, stated that MiCA regulations provide guidance for 'building financial inclusivity' and 'democratizing finance.'
The acquisition of a VASP license in Ireland opens additional opportunities for HashKey in the European crypto market, supporting technological and financial innovations in the region.
