The ASTR token of Astar Network has become the first token contract to achieve full interoperability under both Superchain and Chainlink CCIP protocols.
Integration of Astar into Superchain
The ASTR token can now move through its Polkadot-based layer 1 on the Soneium blockchain and eventually into other Optimism-based Superchains, allowing Astar to enter networks such as Base, OP Mainnet, and World Chain.
Role of Chainlink CCIP
With the launch of Superchain interoperability, users will be able to transfer tokens to any Superchain network with just two clicks, streamlining cross-chain functionality within the CCIP network. CCIP serves as a key component in supporting this interoperability, providing ASTR with a secure cross-chain messaging protocol.
Significance for Astar Ecosystem
According to Maarten Henskens, head of the Astar Foundation, the joint integration with Superchain and Chainlink CCIP provides a significant advantage for both users and builders within the Astar ecosystem. "ASTR isn’t just the native token of Astar Network—it’s becoming a core asset across DeFi, gaming, and creative ecosystems," he stated.
This integration highlights Astar's ambition to become a multi-chain asset and supports projects within the broader web3 space.
